The voice is the original musical instrument and across all communities whether remote or isolated, human song is an essential part of cultural life. It likely emerged as individualistic and improvisatory, as a simple imitation of the sounds heard in nature.

A great vocalist is someone who communicates the human condition with the sound of their voice and brings truth to the lyrics they sing. There is a devotion to their craft, with incredibly focussed hard work, and a sensitivity to music’s many cultural sources.

At World Heart Beat we have group vocal classes and individual tuition. We value the importance of good technique, breathing and vocal development to establish beneficial practice habits for growth and progression. Voice health helps consistent and accurate intonation which is a focus in our classes along with learning great songs, regular recording and providing performance opportunities and also we actively encourage song writing.

We have vocal programmes that focus on contemporary popular music and jazz – the music that our young musicians really enjoy. World Heart Beat also offers the opportunity to study with vocal coaches from opera and classical music, expanding our students’ learning experience through technique and repertoire.

Song-writing classes and regular song-writing workshops are available for all of our students.
