SYRINX and Alice Zawadzki
Tuesday 26 March 2024
Jazz
Tickets: £10 - £12.50
The distinctive and individual sound of Alice Zawadzki’s voice will open into the fullness of the 50 voices of contemporary choral project SYRINX. The choir will explore a tapestry of different vocal sounds and textures as their voices ring around the room. The audience are invited to move around the space and soak up the sound of the choir from within.
Alice Zawadzki is a vocalist, violinist, songwriter and composer, with considerable repute as “a genuine original” (The Guardian), and a distinctive and individual presence on the creative European music scene. She performs extensively as both a soloist and as a collaborator, with headline performances at most of the major UK alternative and jazz venues and festivals. She also performs and collaborates at underground venues in the London scene and on unexpected platforms, with a keenness to nourish music at its roots.
SYRINX is a new choir singing a curious mix of music with harmony and heart. The choir’s name SYRINX comes from the vocal organ of birds. SYRINX will present a tapestry of songs and sounds, including new arrangements of works by Kate Bush, Mesadorm, Breabach and more.
