About The Programme

Finn Peters is one of the UK’s leading flute and saxophone players, known for his innovative blend of jazz, electronic, world, and classical music. Classically trained and with a musical heritage dating back to the 1600s, he studied at Durham University and the Guildhall School of Music. He has worked with pioneers like Bill Frisell and Matthew Herbert, contributed to over 200 recordings, and released acclaimed solo albums including Butterflies. A winner of multiple awards, including the BBC Jazz Award, Finn’s groundbreaking project Music of the Mind explores brainwave-driven composition, cementing his reputation as a visionary force in contemporary music.

Alex Hitchcock is a London-born saxophonist, composer, and producer based in New York, acclaimed for his boundary-pushing approach to contemporary jazz. Drawing from the radical tradition of Black American music, his work explores jazz as both a musical and political force. A two-time Ivor Novello nominee, he has released four solo albums to critical acclaim and performed globally at leading festivals and venues. His Dream Band series and upcoming album Letters From Afar reflect a bold, transatlantic vision—fusing intensity, dissonance, and emotional clarity. Hitchcock continues to challenge form and convention, creating music that interrogates the structures we live and play within.

Jasper Høiby Copenhagen-born bassist is renowned for his innovative approach to contemporary jazz. Founder of the acclaimed trio Phronesis (2005), he gained international recognition for blending intricate compositions with improvisational energy. His music fuses jazz, European folk, and world influences, showcasing a deep emotional and narrative quality. Beyond Phronesis, Høiby leads projects such as Planet B, Fellow Creatures, and 3Elements, and collaborates with leading artists including Tigran Hamasyan, Mark Guiliana, and Shabaka Hutchings. A recipient of the Copenhagen Jazz Festival’s Young Spirit Award, Høiby continues to captivate global audiences with his expressive, boundary-pushing artistry.

Marc Michel, eclectic French drummer, has carved a dynamic presence in the modern jazz scene. Collaborating with top-tier artists like Seamus Blake, Josh Ginsburg, Emma Ravicz and Ben Wendell, his expressive style bridges traditional jazz roots with contemporary improvisation. His drumming, both powerful and intricate, showcases a deep understanding of harmony and musical interplay. Whether leading his own projects or contributing to others, Marc Michel continues to evolve as a versatile, forward-thinking artist pushing the boundaries of modern jazz rhythm.

This performance promises a powerful journey through sound, spirit, and connection, led by one of Europe’s most dynamic jazz bassists and composers. Jasper Høiby. Høiby has gathered a specially curated lineup with some of his favourite London affiliated artists – Finn Peters, Alex Hitchcock and Marc Michel.
