Japan Power: Save Noto
Saturday 29 June 2024
Fundraising concert
Tickets: £25
Join us this June for the Japan Power: Save The Noto! charity concert. Taking place at World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens, the concert aims to lend a helping hand to the communities affected by the Noto Peninsula earthquake in Ishikawa earlier this year.
Expect music and dancing from some of Japan’s most talented performers, as well as a chance to taste delicious Japanese sake and win fantastic prizes!
Through the appeal of music, we aim not only to raise funds which will be directed towards recovery efforts, but also to strengthen cultural relations between Japan and the United Kingdom.
The event is presented by Naomi Suzuki, one of the most well-known Japanese singers and producer living in the UK, who has held charity concerts in over 100 locations since the Great East Japan Earthquake.
All surpluses after deducting necessary expenses from the proceeds will be sent to Ishikawa Prefecture as a donation to support the disaster-stricken areas.
This one of a kind concert will feature musicians from Japan and the UK who are set to perform wonderful jazz renditions of Showa era songs to show their support for Noto. Please come and experience traditional Japanese music with a twist!
Joji Hirota
We are lucky to have multi-instrumentalist Joji Hirota grace us with his talent. Joji is a world-renowned musician known for his work as a taiko drummer, Japanese folk singer (Minyo) and shakuhachi player. He will be performing two traditional Japanese folk songs with origins from Ishikawa prefecture, Kokirikobushi and Esashi Oiwake.
Sakurako Tanaka
Don’t miss out on this collaboration between dynamic duo Sakurako and Naomi, who hold an impressive six world championship titles in ballroom dance. To show their support, these young performers will be delighting us with dance routines from Showa era J-pop.
