Joe Kirby is a British pianist and composer creating music somewhere between neoclassical, ambient and contemporary classical. His work is centred around the piano, often combined with subtle electronics, field recordings and sounds collected while travelling. Much of his music begins with a place, memory or atmosphere, using sound as a way of capturing a particular moment or environment. His live performances bring these elements together in an intimate setting, moving between stripped-back solo piano and more immersive pieces built around synths, recorded sounds and subtle electronic textures.
