The Music of Michael Csányi-Wills

Special guests for this concert will include violinist Tatiana Berman, cellist Nunziatina Del Vecchio, the concert will incorporate some of Csányi-Wills’s most renowned works from both his film scores and his concert works, to be performed with immersive sound technology from d&b audiotechnik.

This concert is part of our Soundscape Sessions, in which we explore the capabilities of the groundbreaking system. The d&b Soundscape is a revolution in the live sound experience, which is being picked up and explored by some of the greatest innovators working at the cusp of music and technology, including Kraftwerk, Björk, Nitin Sawhney and Brian Eno. Its creative possibilities are further recognised by this showcase series of concerts by international composers, and award-winning creatives.

A stimulating initiation to the sound-world of a composer whose work certainly demands closer scrutiny. Sonics and annotations are first-rate.

Gerald Fenech

Award winning composer and pianist Michael Csányi-Wills is known for his diverse portfolio spanning chamber music, choral and orchestral compositions, and film scores.

His orchestral pieces have garnered widespread acclaim across the UK and beyond,and his scores for over 40 films, including documentaries such as Maestro about conductor Paavo Jarvi, and most recently Sideshow, a feature drama starring Les Dennis and Anthony Head, are where Csányi-Wills is best known.

A properly unearthly feel which was most effective, and the playing was everything that one could wish.

Paul Corfield Godfrey

He won the ‘Best Score’ at the Movie Maverick Awards for his score to the short film A Love Story in Milk and was nominated at the World Soundtrack awards for Best Newcomer. His latest commercial success comes in the form of Meta Quest and Aardman’s The Grand Getaway; a Wallace and Gromit VR game released in 2023.

Recent collaborations with violinist Tatiana Berman, clarinetist Thomas Verity, cellists Rosie Biss and Nunziatina Del Vecchio and violinist Mihkel Kerem are due for various album releases in 2024/25.
