Tom Sheen Quintet

Tom Sheen is one of the most exciting and promising young bass players coming up on the London scene. Learning with the Julian Joseph Jazz Academy, Tomorrow’s Warriors and World Heart Beat, Tom is already playing with many of the leading voices on the UK and international scene including Rachael Cohen, Mark Kavuma, JD Allen, Ruben Fox, and Nu Civilisation Orchestra.
Tom is currently continuing his studies at Trinity Laban, studying with Calum Gourlay, Orlando Le Fleming, and Shane Forbes, among others. He has also had the privilege of taking lessons with many legendary American musicians including Sir Ron Carter, David Wong, and Paul Sikivie.
Tom’s Quintet features BBC Young Jazz Musician 2024 finalist George Johnson (Knats, Oreglo) on tenor saxophone, Ferg Kilsby (Knats) on trumpet, Kezia Abuoma on piano (Calum Gourlay, Denys Baptiste) and Luke McCarthy (Johnny Mansfield, Giacomo Smith) on drums. The band’s repertoire, consisting of compositions from all members of the band, reflects a wide range of musical influences, from jazz greats such as Wayne Shorter and Thelonious Monk to modern pioneers including Immaneul Wilkins and Joel Ross.
E.T.C

E.T.C is a London-based trio formed by the young talents of Ethan Sweeting (drums), Tom Sheen (bass) and Chris Outhwaite (piano). Currently completing their studies at Trinity Laban, they continue to dive deep into an ever-growing repertoire of standards and original compositions, developing a unique approach to the trio format that takes influence from albums such as Now He Sings Now He Sobs, The Real McCoy and from groups such as the Miles Davis 2nd quintet and the Keith Jarrett trio.
Sula

Sula is a new London-based trio project made up of drummer Miranda Radford, bassist Aleks Dimitrova and pianist Kezia Abuoma. All currently studying jazz at Trinity Laban, these exciting young musicians have come up through hailed organisations like Tomorrow’s Warriors, mentored by the likes of Nikki Yeoh and Deschanel Gordon and Will Cleasby. As both bandleaders and sidewomen, they have performed at venues such as The Vortex, The Jazz Cafe and Dizzy’s Club in New York. Inspired by the energetic, contemporary sound of Kris Davis, Kenny Kirkland and Jeff “Tain” Watts, these three unique voices have come together to play both their original compositions and music by the likes of Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter.
