Rebekah Reid is a vibrant and versatile violinist, composer and loop pedal artist, specialising in classical and jazz repertoire and improvisation.  Known for her distinct style combining virtuosic violin performance with live looping and electronics, Rebekah effortlessly blends influences from jazz, classical music, minimalism, hip hop, world music, folk and electronic dance music.

Reid has taken her solo live loop pedal set across the UK, with notable performances at the Portico Library in Manchester supporting Matana Roberts and Kelly Jayne Jones, Manchester Art Gallery for Sofar Sounds, and the Royal Albert Hall – the Elgar Room in  2019 and 2021.  

Alongside solo performing, Rebekah tours the UK and international stages extensively with orchestras, jazz ensembles and pop bands, including with Soul II Soul, Angelique Kidjo for EFG London Jazz Festival, Stormzy at the 2023 Brit Awards and the Chineke! Orchestra on their USA & Canada tour.

Rebekah has been involved in a number of high-profile projects and collaborations, including playing on recordings for NAO, Nubya Garcia, Emma-Jean Thackray and Alicia Keys, performing  on the BBC Proms with the Chineke! Orchestra, and with Celeste at the 2021 Mercury Awards.

Rebekah has been featured in The Strad and Jazzwise magazines, and appeared in Vogue with Jorja Smith, Griff and the Chineke! Orchestra.   She has featured on BBC Radio 4’s ‘Add to Playlist’ with Cerys Matthews and Jeffrey Boayke, Soho Radio with Max Reinhardt, This Classical Life with Jess Gillam and Lauren Laverne’s breakfast show on BBC 6 Music.  Her compositions have had spins on BBC Radio 3 (Petroc Trelawny Breakfast Show, Late Junction, Elizabeth Alker,  Linton Stephens and the J to Z Show), BBC 1Xtra (Jamz Supernova), BBC 6 Music (Moses Boyd sit in for Guy Garvey) and  Worldwide FM (Emma Warren, Debra Richards and Hector Plimmer).  

In October 2021, Rebekah was commissioned by BBC Radio 4 and BBC Sounds to compose the soundtrack for the critically acclaimed radio series and podcast  ’28(ish) Days Later’. The series – first aired in March 2022, and in September 2023 Rebekah independently released the soundtrack as her debut solo album titled: ‘Selected Works Vol.1′. ’28(ish) Days Later’ – which made it onto Apple Music’s Top 5 podcasts 2022, Amazon Music Best Podcasts 2023, and ‘Selected Works Vol.1’ made it onto the longlist in 5 different categories for the 66th GRAMMY Awards nominations in November 2023. 

Rebekah is also leader and manager of Täpp – a dynamic and experimental loop pedal music collective. The ensemble released their debut album independently in 2021, with their second single ‘Never Knew Why’ being picked up by Whistledown Productions in 2022, and used in the radio series ‘Please Protect Abraham’, first broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in December 2022. 

Rebekah plays a Johann Karl Klotz violin from 1786, kindly on loan from the Harrison-Frank Family Foundation.
