Our Jazz in the Gardens series continues at the New Covent Garden Market Roof Terrace, Nine Elms, with the talented Nnandi Nnachi-Cole Quartet, with UK young drummer of the year, Ellis Gates, Hassen Richards-Zoubir on bass and Joe Walker on saxophone.

Nnamdi Nachi Cole Quartet

Nnamdi Nnachi-Cole is a young pianist with a beautiful flowing integrity of sound. His ballad playing is insightful and mature coupled with an effortless urgency when the music is powerful and fast pace. Trained at the esteemed Julian Joseph Jazz Academy, Nnamdi is already turning heads and attracting positive waves as one of the newest emerging stars on the London jazz scene, and has previously headlined at World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens.

Ellis Gates is a young and upcoming jazz drummer. Holding the title of UK young drummer the Zildjian young drummer of the year competition. Ellis is currently being mentored at the Julian Joseph Jazz Academy, and studying jazz piano at World Heart Beat Music Academy. He’s heavily influenced by Roy Haynes, Art Blakey and Tony Williams.

Hass Richards is making waves on the London jazz scene with his robust sound and intense ability to swing and bring energy to every situation. Hass loves a wide range of genres including R&B, gospel, and jazz, and those influences seep into his musical palette powering his compelling attack and musical vibration.

Hass regularly performs at esteemed jazz venues across the city, including World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens, Vortex and 606 Club, bringing a thoughtful, groove-driven approach shaped by both self-discovery and formal jazz mentorship at the Julian Joseph Jazz Academy.

Joe Walker is an up-and-coming alto-saxophonist known for his bold sound. Joe also leads his own jazz quartet, honouring the legacy of John Coltrane’s sound, and has played at venues across London, including at the EFG London Jazz Festival. Joe currently studies at the internationally acclaimed Trinity Laban Conservatoire. 

Please note, the event will take place at the New Covent Garden Market Roof Terrace. Please head to the Food Exchange on arrival, whereby you will be signposted to the roof terrace.
