Asa Martinson

Asa Martinson, has utilised the support from World Heart Beat‘s Artist Development Programme to blend traditional jazz with R&B and soul, creating a truly vibrant sound. He performs solo and with his band, Asa and The Outlet (AM&TO) who came together through the Julian Joseph Jazz Academy (JJJA), an extracurricular program for talented young musicians across London. Asa’s mentor, Julian Joseph OBE, is one of the UK’s premier jazz pianists and educators. Inspired by legends like James Brown, Tony Allen, George Duke, and D’Angelo, AM&TO has created a signature sound that’s fresh, vibrant, and unforgettable.

Their journey has taken them to some of the UK’s most iconic stages—Ronnie Scott’s, the 606 Club, and the Barbican—where they’ve refined their genre-defying craft.

Asa released his debut single in June this year, with support from the programme and recorded his debut album with World Heart Beat. Martinson and his band have played at some of the UK’s leading stages, including Ronnie Scott’s and the Barbican.
