Leah Wing
Flute
Leah Wing is a classically trained flautist and piccolo player, who enjoys performing in a variety of contexts; from classical orchestras to jazz and pop music ensembles.
Leah is very passionate about both the technical and the expressive, creative aspects of music making and enjoys the privilege of passing on her knowledge and expertise to the next generation!
After several years as a young flute student at World Heart Beat Music Academy, Leah went on to study flute and piccolo at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester for her Undergraduate and Master’s degrees, achieving First Class honours in both. During her six years there, she studied with Cormac Henry, Principal Flautist of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (RLPO) and Jennifer Hutchinson, Principal Piccolo for the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. Leah had the opportunity to play piccolo with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and was a flute soloist with the Hallé Orchestra at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall. She continues to play regularly with the City of Stoke-on-Trent Symphony Orchestra on flute and piccolo.
Having returned to London, Leah teaches flute, piccolo and piano. In addition to this, she is currently working on writing and recording her debut album, on which she sings and plays piano with her band, who are all World Heart Beat musicians. She is looking forward to releasing her music, which she has been greatly supported in creating through World Heart Beat.
