On Friday 9 May 2025, World Heart Beat hosted the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace run, a global torch relay that celebrates peace, unity and friendship. It was a beautiful day to celebrate the London Borough of Culture 2025, bringing children from 4 local schools across Wandsworth together through music, storytelling, and a range of interactive activities.
The children had the opportunity to hold the Peace Torch, a beautiful symbol of harmony that has already made its way from Portugal, the start of The Europe Peace Run 2025 and will continue to make its way through 21 countries, finishing in Croatia in October. In the spirit of creativity and connection, paintings and poems from school children all over the world will be exhibited in the Coliseum in Rome this October, highlighting the unity of peace.
The children enjoyed learning about the Peace Run in the assembly and our Year 2s have a memory for life, not only of meeting the runners but also of having the chance to hold the torch and run with it too!” Swaffield Primary School
