Join the fun!
World Heart Beat will be providing a selection of live music performances at this year’s Happy Streets Festival for the whole community, on Saturday 9th July.
This one-day family-friendly event is open to everyone and takes inspiration from the nearby ‘Happy Street’ Thessaly Road bridge design with themes of happiness and wellbeing.
Held around the Thessaly Road (Nine Elms) area, SW8, expect a line-up of live music, theatre, craft and wellbeing activities and performances for all ages.
Check out World Heart Beat’s performances
World Heart Beat Contemporary Gig Band (12:00 -12:45pm)
Musical performances from World Heart Beat’s Gig Band will present an eclectic programme spanning a whole host of contemporary popular music genres, whilst performing on St. George’s Primary School’s main stage.
Second Line New Orleans Band Parade (12:45 -1:45pm)
In 19th century New Orleans, jazz brought together diverse ethnic and racial groups, who found common cause through their love of music. Inspired by this, World Heart Beat Music Academy has its own Second Line New Orleans Band that plays a varied range of jazz music. The young musicians will be marching as they perform!
Recycled Instrument Making Workshop (12:30 – 14:30pm and 15:30 –17:30pm)
World Heart Beat will be showing you how to make musical instruments out of recycled materials during workshops in the Yvonne Carr Centre Garden. Please bring along your empty (and clean) fizzy drink cans and see how waste materials can be recycled into musical shakers to make some rhythmic sounds and beats! (N.B some cans will be provided)
