Students supporting and mentoring each other is part of the parcel of World Heart Beat culture. Our Guitar Party events were originally started by one of our students, Milda, in 2016. She had been helping to teach our young guitar musicians on Friday evenings, and suggested having a guitar showcase. Milda organised the whole event, including advertising the event, getting the audience, planning the setlist and teaching the songs. She did a fantastic job, and used everything she learned during the process to help complete her Gold Arts Award.
2017 Guitar Party
On the 30th of June our guitar teacher, Skip Mosley, & vocalist, Sian Kelly, hosted the Guitar party. This was a success with students performing a range of covers from artists such as Pink Floyd, Amy Winehouse, and Bob Dylan. Sian Kelly performed a new song, called Wall Paint, which will feature in her upcoming album. Sian, and student performers from Friday, reflected on the relaxing and rewarding atmosphere of the party, and their performances on World Heart Beat Music Hour on Wandsworth Radio here.
