“an extraordinary new step into chamber opera…”
“The intimate and dream-like sequences highlight universal experiences like love, death, belonging, and the search for meaning, making this oeuvre destined to touch hearts.” Pure.Art Circle, Italy
Forget what you might expect from a typical singer/pianist performance. This is a genre-defying journey that weaves spoken word, memoir and a rich soundscape of voice, piano, and electronics. It’s raw, honest and captivating.
Through a bold blend of storytelling, theatre and music, the duo transform the grandeur of opera into something deeply personal – like it belongs to all of us.
“We wanted to create a piece of art to try to find a way to bring people together in this time of division and heaviness in the world. As creators, we wanted to bring goodness and light into the world and to show that more things connect us than we might think; finding these shared threads of our humanity.”
In a world shadowed by division and sorrow, this visceral yet unconventional theatre memoir gently reminds us of our shared humanity—illuminating hope, connection and the enduring presence of good. A world where opera feels powerful, intimate and unmistakably current.
This thought-provoking take on chamber opera weaves together science, memoir, theatre and music to explore enduring themes of belonging, humanity and connection – as well as the timeless transition between life and death.
Based on groundbreaking research about near-death experiences, Infinitesimal transmutes chamber opera into an expansive sonic landscape, pushing the expressive limits to reimagine the singer-pianist duo. It showcases gay and female voices through the shared experiences of its central characters and “amplifies the vital interconnection between humans” (Paradiso.Pure Living).
Dancing at the threshold between our existence and what lies beyond it, Infinitesimal is directed by Kevin Newbury and composed and performed by pianist Nicole Brancato and baritone Jeremy Weiss.Through a bold blend of storytelling, theatre and music, the duo transform the grandeur of opera into something deeply personal – like it belongs to all of us.
