51st State Band
The 51st State Band was first conceived at a doughnut party held in a small living room, one afternoon in 2000. Since then the band, led by Sahana Gero, has grown to over 100 young musicians, and is one of the most vibrant and largest community concert bands in London.
The band has no grade level requirements, and young musicians only need to be able to play a few notes on their instrument in order to join. As a result, by playing in the band, they make amazing progress.
Band participants play a range of music from jazz to soul, film music and a whole host of other great music in its contemporary repertoire. This is performed in a grand, annual concert.
The band meets on Thursdays, 5.30 – 6.30pm (beginners/intermediate) and 6.30 – 7.30pm (intermediate/advanced).
Being part of the 51st State Band has been so good for our son. He has learned so much from you and the other musicians, and it has really boosted his confidence and his musical ability!
