A series of chamber programmes exploring themes of equality and diversity, featuring music from Bach to the present day, performed by Reiko Fujisawa and friends, and introduced by Peter Quantrill.
Taking Liberties
An intimate hour of chamber music on the eve of International Women’s Day spotlighting the remarkable lives of three 19th-century French women composers who took Paris, and the world, by storm – much to the surprise of their male counterparts.
With in-depth commentary from music journalist Peter Quantrill, the concert is brought to you by pianist Reiko Fujisawa (‘Elegant playing… a total joy’, The Times), an artist with a history of curating thought-provoking series including ‘Clara Schumann: Prodigy, Muse, Virtuoso’.
Featuring piano and strings, expect lush harmonies and heartfelt melodies that speak of La Belle Époque alongside ethereal new music from one of France’s brightest young composers, 24 year-old Elise Bertrand.
