SOUND ANTHROPOLOGY

Formed by Ayana Homma (Jazzy Sport London), Sound Anthropology is a meeting point of spiritual jazz infused with global and electronic influences. Ayana draws inspiration from both Japanese Shinto ideologies and global sounds. Drawing from her original works, the band has together expanded an immersive musical vision that encompasses Rhythm, Raga, Tala and Maqam.

With Ayana on voice, Tommy Khosla on sitar, Vishnu Vijayan on tabla, Mohammad Resyad on oud & guitar, and Alex Ryder on bass – the musicians aim to let the music the talking whilst grooving with each other and the audience.

COMPOUND CHEMISTRY

Compound Chemistry is a fusion project whose name does justice to the music they make. The band consists of Samuel Oliveira on drums, André Soares on guitar and Wes Burton on bass.

A product of divergent music influences and backgrounds, here is where jazz and prog music meet and create their own identity. After over a year of shows in Portugal and the UK the trio released their debut album in April and have a European tour scheduled in the summer.

Inspired by bands and artists like George Benson, Daft Punk, Led Zeppelin and Tigran Hamasyan , the trio can be seen as the perfect son of Hiromi and Julian Lage.

CAYTRA

Originally formed from a basement jam, Caytra are Sam Ithell, James Gullis and Conor Cotteril.

Caytra is a timestamp of each member’s uniqueness and symbiosis showcasing a blend of hip-hop, funk, jazz and rock. With London’s diverse nightlife at the heart of their sound and the UK jazz scene at the forefront of their influence, Caytra’s defining characteristic is their blend of technicality and dance-ability.

Caytra’s live set pays homage to some of hip-hop’s most renowned producers whilst maintaining the thread of improvisation throughout. Caytra incorporate a blend of live instrumentation and samples that are both original and taken from the greats such as Ahmad Jamal, J-Dilla and Herbie Hancock.

A rollercoaster of slick instrumentation, production and tempos reminiscent of collectives such as Ghost Note and Chris Dave and The Drumhedz.
