2025 Parliamentary Jazz Awards Nominee

Hot off the Press!

World Heart Beat has been shortlisted for the Jazz Education category for the 2025 Parliamentary Jazz Awards alongside Tomorrow’s Warriors and Doncaster Youth Jazz Orchestra.

We are also proud to be hosting the awards at World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens on Tuesday 14 October.

It’s all about Jazz

Jazz is taught at World Heart Beat from grassroots (8-year-olds+) at Jazz Roots sessions (instrumental and vocal) all the way through to music college and beyond. Jazz musicians can take part in our 51st State Band, 51st State Big Band, Latin band, and Indian Music Tabla programme.

World Heart Beat’s jazz curriculum is spearheaded by the exemplary work of internationally renowned British jazz musicians, such as jazz pianist and World Heart Beat Patron, Julian Joseph, saxophonist Tony Kofi and trumpeter Byron Wallen, as well as benefitting from the energy of the new generation of jazz musicians, including pianist Ayo Vincent, trombonist Wilf Diamond, and vocalist Ava Joseph.

World Heart Beat and the Julian Joseph Jazz Academy (JJJA) work together to provide comprehensive music education and performance opportunities for young musicians. World Heart Beat students are exposed to specialist jazz programmes at JJJA with a reciprocal arrangement for JJJA students, who are given the experience to expand their opportunities in recording and live performance, as well as extra development in classical music, orchestra, Indian tabla, Latin and playing in the 51st State Big Band, performances and mentoring opportunities.

The ZEDRA Jazz Development Programme, in partnership with World Heart Beat is a music programme focused on supporting young jazz musicians in London. The programme provides specialized tuition, masterclasses, ensemble sessions, performance opportunities and music industry networking sessions.

Jazz students are invited to take part in our annual Summer Jazz Hang, a chance to share experiences with other jazz musicians and ‘hang’ as well as perform at local community events and at World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens.

World Heart Beat also receives frequent visiting masterclasses and tuition from jazz legends, such as trumpeter Wynton Marsalis and vocalist Cleveland Watkiss, as well as saxophonist Branford Marsalis who supported World Heart Beat’s fundraising concert at Wigmore Hall (6 July 2023).
