Concert: Classic Funk, December 1st 7:30pm

On 1st December we hosted a Classic Funk concert with celebratory vibe, rhythmic grooves and strong beats. Featuring talented young musicians from the World Heart Beat Music Academy, and directed by jazz pianist and composer, Trevor Watkis.

December 1st is Giving Tuesday, an antidote to the Black Friday sales and Cyber Monday shopping online, creating an opportunity to help the causes we all care about. Proceeds from the concert went towards our Jazz programme.

“The most important thing I have learned about playing funk is groove, vibe and attitude. You can’t play funk if you don’t lock in together” – Ezekiel Ajie

What a great night, everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. What a wonderful example of racial, cultural and social cohesion. Can’t beat it! Those professional musicians must be such an inspiration to the youngsters – and they are always full of praise for their performance which must give them such pride in themselves not to mention confidence. And to gig with them afterwards is icing on the cake.
