Sophie Simpson
Violin
Sophie Simpson studied Music at the University of York, followed by a Masters in Violin Performance the Royal Northern College of Music. Since graduating in 2016 she has been busy pursuing a portfolio career in teaching, and as a freelance performer on both modern and baroque violin.
Ensembles she performs with include Southbank Sinfonia (member 2019), Sinfonia Cymru, The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Instruments of Time and Truth, Fiori Musicali, Manchester Camerata, Northern Ballet Sinfonia, Orpheus Sinfonia, Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. She is also a member of Italy’s Theresia Orchestra, who perform Classical works on period instruments across Europe.
Sophie is currently a violin teacher at the World Heart Beat Music Academy and Cheam School. She has previously taught for many schools and music services, including In Harmony Liverpool, RNCM Young Strings, Bolton School, One Education, Crossley Heath School, Halton and Warrington Music Support Service and Greater Manchester Music Hub.
From 2016-18, Sophie was also a joint Head of Practice at the prestigious Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester. Passionate about orchestral outreach and education work, alongside her teaching Sophie works as an Education Ambassador for the Benedetti Foundation.
