Lottie Price

Violin

Having growing up in North Devon, Lottie Price moved to Cardiff to study Music Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and graduated in 2020. She has recently moved to London to further pursue a portfolio career in teaching and freelance performing.

Throughout her years of study, Lottie has received opportunities to perform at prestigious venues and events such as the Royal Albert Hall, Proms in the Park, Dora Stoutzker Hall and St John Smith’s Square. She played in the 70th Birthday Celebrations for HRH Prince of Wales and her string quartet, the Lunar Ensemble, were the winners of the Bridgewood and Neitzert Chamber Music Prize. She also played Principal Second Violin during an orchestral tour of China last year. In the coming months, she will be playing in the Thursford Christmas Spectacular Orchestra in Norfolk.

Lottie enjoys playing a variety of genres; she co-founded a folk ensemble whilst studying and was co-principal of Prestige 6 Orchestra, a hybrid pop orchestra in Cardiff.

Lottie teaches the violin at World Heart Beat Music Academy as well as being a private tutor. She has previously taught as a peripatetic strings tutor at many schools in Wales, working with Gwent Music Service and Cardiff County Music Service as an Ensemble Tutor. She also loves Outreach work, and has led the RWCMD Symphony Orchestra on a tour of Wales playing to over 2,500 young people.

Greatest Musical Inspiration

This is a tricky question as so many people inspire me! However, I think my greatest musical inspiration would have to be my first violin teacher, Keith Chivers, without whom I wouldn’t be playing today. He was the most kind and enthusiastic teacher and believed in me even when I didn’t.

Best Musical Advice

Good things take time. Most musicians have worked for years to get to where they are, and even then they are still learning! So don’t think it’s impossible, just keep at it and you’ll get to where you want to be. Also, don’t compare yourself to others, in life generally and musically. Your gift is unique to you and it would be a waste to try to be like everybody else!
