Trevor Watkis is a jazz pianist, composer and arranger, born in London, United Kingdom. He started playing the piano in his late teens. At the age of 16, when he started playing the piano, Trevor Watkis probably couldn’t have imagined he’d one day be described by a London music reviewer as ‘ one of the fastest –finger piano tyrants in town. Watkis has evolved from a young player, idolizing the music of jazz piano icons into a multi-talented, International known performer, arranger and composer.

In 1989 he went to study in the USA at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Trevor got the opportunity to immerse himself in a very musically and culturally rich environment while studying at Berklee.

On his return to London Trevor established himself on the UK jazz scene as a respected pianist, band leader and composer, working with renowned artists from both the UK and USA (Courtney Pine, Jean Toussaint, Cleveland Watkiss, Ernest Ranglin, Gary Bartz, Kenny Garrett, the late Stanley Turrentine, Eddie Henderson, Betty Carter, Clifford Jarvis and many others), and was one of the founding members of Gary Crosbys Tomorrows Warriors and Nu Troop.

He has appeared at most of Londons prestigious concert halls and jazz venues including The Royal Festival Hall, The Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Barbican, Jazz Café, Ronnie Scotts, The 606 Club and the Vortex in addition to many other venues across the country. Trevor has also led music workshops with young children in schools throughout the UK.

Trevor’s film, TV and theatre work include appearances in Stephen Frys Bright Young Things and the 2004 MGM movie De-Lovely- a portrait of 1940s Songwriter and composer Cole Porter, in which he accompanies Elvis Costello and Natalie Cole. Trevor has written music for BBC Radio and has appeared in television commercials. In 1998 Trevor toured Europe with the theatre production Dancing & Singing The Blues on piano/keyboard and as co-musical arranger. He is also credited as musical arranger for the score of the independent movie Rage.

Trevor continues to work on the freelance circuit and has performed in the USA, Japan, Oman, Turkey, Caribbean, and many cities across Europe.
