A Celtic Gathering

The annual Celtic Gathering concert at World Heart Beat Music Academy is a relaxed and joyful event where our young Celtic Violinists play alongside guest Irish musicians. In 2014, we were donated 41 violins by the ‘Don’t Stop the Music’ campaign, and now we have over 60 young musicians learning to play violin by ear in our Celtic and Gypsy Violin programmes. In 2016, some of our older violin players are now beginning to learn Jazz music too!

On Wednesday 3rd of December, World Heart Beat Music Academy hosted its very first Celtic Fiddle concert supported by Seymour Green Estate Agents. The Don’t Stop the Music Now campaign donated 41 violins.

Students as young as 4 from the Wandsworth-based charity performed alongside top Celtic musicians Ben Gunnery, Willie Barr and Colman Connolly.

The Celtic Fiddle school at World Heart Beat Music Academy is now in its third year and has grown exponentially in such a short period of time. The rhythm and jaunty nature of Celtic music creates the perfect atmosphere of fun to encourage even the youngest aspiring musicians to pick up an instrument. Some of the children were performing live for the first time; their confidence was remarkable and their love of music evident in their playing.

Seymour Green Estate Agents, also based in Wandsworth, began sponsoring the Celtic Fiddle school in September this year. It is through local support such as this that the World Heart Beat Music Academy is able to continue delivering bespoke, high quality music tuition and diverse performance opportunities for disadvantaged young people throughout Wandsworth and the surrounding boroughs. Thanks to the generous donation of 41 violins from the Don’t Stop The Music campaign, the World Heart Beat Music Academy can now offer violin and Celtic Fiddle lessons to even more young people.
